L’ÎLE-ROUSSE, ARRIVAL CITY

Nestled between the sea and the maquis, L’Île-Rousse benefits from an exceptional geographical location in northwestern Corsica. This former fishing village, nicknamed the Paoline city, gathers visitors with its sun-drenched, summery atmosphere. It will host the finishline of the 2026 Adventure Racing World Championship (#ARWC2026).

The town enchants those who explore its incredible bay. When wandering in the streets, L’Île-Rousse reveals itself as authentic and generous. Visitors stay for its stunning landscapes, colored in turquoise blue and vivid green. Around 1758, this fishing village entered Corsican history thanks to Pascal Paoli, who transformed this small trading corner into a fortified town and a port to weaken Genoese activity in the close by ports of Algajola and Calvi. Its main square, naturally named Place Paoli, draws everyone attention with the Church of the Immaculate Conception of Mary. The town is also home to three beaches. Caruchettu Beach, with its sand-level rocks, silky sand, and clear waters, is undoubtedly the most untouched.
